I have been using knives since I was 8, but I made my first knife in 2014 with the help of David Roeder J.S. As I learned and developed my skills, I have become more pragmatic about the knives I make based on what they need to do. Knives are an all around tool, but their ultimate purpose is to cut stuff. If a knife cannot fulfill that purpose well, then it is not a good knife. Because knives are a tool, I'm not trying to make an ornate piece of jewelry. Instead, I create my knives so that they are something that you're not afraid to use, beat up, and possibly break. Knives should be made to last, but at the same time their expendability should be remembered. I make my knives with this concept in mind. They are of good steel and thin stock with durable handle materials. My knives are simple. They may not be the prettiest, most elegant or fancy, but they are purposeful. Many of my knives are based on time- tested, functional patterns that have endured through the years because of their simple usefulness. Tools that do what they are supposed to do and do it well are the ones people use, love and pass down. I don't make knives with the intention of them being pristine heirlooms because tools that are passed down are way cooler when they've been enjoyed and used by the previous owner.

If you have ever owned one of our products, you might have noticed an S.D.G. on the knife and/or knife sheath. S.D.G. is an abbreviation for the term soli Deo Gloria, which is Latin for glory to God alone. This term was used by J.S.Bach and some other musicians to signify that the work was dedicated to the glory of God.
